A little utility for macOS that adds a Open Workspace menu entry which when activated opens the selected workspace in a new Eclipse instance. In addition Eclipse instance icons get a badge with the workspace name. This can be set in Preferences > General > Workspace. If unspecified the last segment of the workspace path will be used.
Note that OS X 10.6 or newer is required as this feature relies on the open command's ability to pass on arguments. Eclipse IDE 2021-12 is the minimum Eclipse version required for the 3.0.3 build as support for M1 based macs has been added.

Issues with eclipse 2019-06
Submitted by matteo rulli on Tue, 07/16/2019 - 04:43
Hello! I installed the plugin in the 2019-06 eclipse and neither the "Open Workspace" menu nor the workspace badges appear. Everything worked with the previous eclipse version. Am I the only one experiencing issues with 2019-06? Is there any workaround? Thanks!
Badge gets cleared after restarting eclipse
Submitted by utsav kansara on Wed, 02/20/2019 - 14:12
Hi,
I was using this plugin on eclipse Luna and it was working perfectly. I recently upgraded to eclipse Photon and installed plugin again. Now, everytine I restart eclipse, badge gets cleared. After I go to eclipse->preferences->workspace : and change workspace name to different value, it comes back. Any idea ?

Yes, this is a problem caused by Oomph interfering with the badge. Just make sure you set a name for the workspace other than than the last segment of the path to the workspace and you should be good. See https://github.com/turesheim/eclipse-launcher/issues/5281
Missing in MarketPlace
Submitted by Roberto Posenato on Wed, 02/13/2019 - 06:27
Using Eclipse EE 4.10, it is not possible to find the plugin in MarketPlace using the internal client whatever the query string.
Browsing in the MarketPlace using the internal navigator, it is possible to find the plugin but the Install button does not work.
I installed the plugin adding the source site as source in the 'Install new software' menù.

Thanks for the praise! It appears there is something wrong with the search handling in the MPC client. I've filed a bug report https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=544445

This plugin really helps when working with multiple workspaces.
If you face the badge-problem, you can set the workspace name explicitly:
General > Workspace > Workspace name
Badge icon unfortunately no longer works with Mars .2
Submitted by Bernd Engist on Mon, 03/14/2016 - 08:34
The tool is really useful on OS X. Unfortunately since I updated to Eclipse Mars .2 the badge icon disappears some seconds after eclipse launch. Any chance to get this fixed?

Badge label clearing is caused by Oomph

In reply to Bug report filed by Torkild Resheim
The problem here is that Eclipse Oomph changes the badge label to whatever is set in the workspace name preference. If not set, Oomph will clear the badge label while this utility will use the last segment of the workspace path. I'll work with the Oomph team to remedy this.

Java 1.7 or better is required

In reply to Should work with OSX Yosemite by Torkild Resheim
In the new 2.0 version some code was introduced that required Java 1.7 instead of 1.6 as before. Make sure Java 1.7 or newer is used for Eclipse if you're also using this plugin. If you're on Luna you should also be on at least 1.7 since most bundles require this.
Still working perfectly
