Solution Description

The Linux Profiling Tools project aims to bring a full-featured C and C++ IDE to Linux developers. We build on the source editing and debugging features of the CDT to integrate popular native profiling tools and heap analysis tools. Support is included for the following tools:

  • GNU Profiler (gprof) -- a tool used for determining which parts of a program are taking most of the execution time.
  • Gcov -- a test coverage tool from the GCC project that can be used to discover untested parts of your program.
  • Perf -- a profiling and tracing tool from the Linux Kernel project.
  • Systemtap -- a tool and scripting languages for instrumenting, probing and diagnosing problems in running Linux systems and userspace applications
  • Valgrind -- a tool for doing heap and thread analysis and that can be used for find memory management and multi-threading bugs.
