The Test Description Language (TDL) is a new language for the specification of test descriptions and the presentation of test execution results.
There is a methodology gap between the high-level expression of what needs to be tested i.e., the test purposes described in prose or Test Purpose Language (TPLan), and the complex coding of the executable tests in Testing and Test Control Notation version 3 (TTCN-3). TDL fills that gap.
The TDL Open Source Project (TOP) fosters the shared development and testing of contributed tools to manage TDL files, generate documentation and code. Find out more and get the code at: https://labs.etsi.org/rep/top/ide .
To accelerate the adoption of TDL, TC MTS has commissioned an open source implementation of TDL in order to lower the barrier to entry for both users and tool vendors in getting started with using TDL. The open source implementation comprises graphical and textual editors, validation facilities, as well as transformation and generation functionalities for importing and exporting different artefacts. It was made available in 2017 as an ETSI open source software project accessible from the TDL website and enabling contributions from the community.
