Solution Description

This plugin allows you to create, compile and upload sketches with nearly the same simplicity as the Arduino IDE but with all full functional features one would expect from a professional IDE, which includes git a serial monitor, and a graphical plotter.

This is a free and open-source plugin that is a professional and complete alternative to the Arduino IDE. This is an add-on to the C/C++ development features plus a toolbar with the Arduino buttons from the Arduino IDE and an Arduino menu for importing libraries and more.

There is no dependency on the Arduino IDE.Sloeber supports 500+ boards and 3 languages (English, Dutch, Italian).

Note: This is the plugin that can be installed by experienced eclipse users. This solution is also available as a complete and easy to install product on the following location:

Beginners are advised to install the product.

What is the "sloeber perspective." and how do I switch to it?

How do I start the "sloeber perspective?

What should I see?

How do I start Arduino development with sloeber ?

In reply to by Don Baechtel

https://help.eclipse.org/latest/index.jsp?topic=%2Forg.eclipse.platform…

If you do not know about perspectives please start with the product

THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT PLACE FOR SUPPORT

Please use Github for support https://github.com/Sloeber/arduino-eclipse-plugin

Here is a user manual created by a Sloeber user https://github.com/ArminJo/SloeberTutorial#first-start-of-sloeber

How do I start up Sloeber so that I can begin Arduino development?

Eclipse starts up, but no sign of Arduino features after installing Sloeber.

How do I begin developing Arduino app in Eclpse.

I do not see any Arduino features in Eclipse after installing Sloeber.

In reply to by Don Baechtel

Switch to the sloeber perspective.

If you do not see the Sloeber perspective something is wrong with the installation.

In the Sloeber perspective you should see the arduino IDE symbols you are used to. verify create sketch, upload ... and a Sloeber menu item.

This is why we strongly advice to start from the Sloeber product. Then at least you know what to expect.

But again..; this is not a support line, please use github for issues.

Using the "drag to install" feature it's installing the v2.0 version, hot to get the 3.0 version?

Thanks in advance, E.

I assume yu were trying to install in neon. I seemed V3 was not marked as compatible with neon.
I changed that and market place tried to install V3 in my neon eclipse install.
If marketplace insists on installing V2: install from this update site http://www.baeyens.it/eclipse/V3.
Note that if you are new to Sloeber we advice to install the "product" which you can get here: http://eclipse.baeyens.it/ (select the install menu at the top and then stable for your OS)

I initially started to use this plugin more than a year ago and, as a long Eclipse user, I couldn't believe I did spend so much time playing with Arduino without using it!
Anybody willing to get some non trivial development on Arduino should migrate to this plugin at once, simply because it makes your life so much easier you would really question yourself with "How come I didn't know about it!".

And since I've got involved into its development and testing I know some very interesting news are right behind the corner, waiting to be announced!
