This Eclipse Plugin allows to configure the background in Eclipse.
Under Window > Preferences > SimpleBackground, the following options are available:
- Background image: This option allows to set a background image.
- Background alpha: This option allows to customize the transparency of the main Eclipse Window.
- Background image alpha: This option allows to customize the transparency of the background image.
This option is ignored if no background image is set.

Hi,
Sorry for not responding but this plugin is just something I built because I felt like it at the moment and it isn't something I put a lot of effort in. I mainly wanted to show it's possible.
That being said, I think this might be due to you using plugins/themes which may cause this not working. Is it possible you have any theming related plugins installed? You could try to set up another Eclipse installation without any other theming plugins.

Hi,
Sorry that I didn't respond until now but this plugin was more of a proof of concept than anything else.
It is also possible that your Eclipse installation may set custom backgrounds for some views which would overwrite the background. Is the image not shown anywhere or are there parts of the UI where the image (e.g. the preference dialog) is visible?
