Release V8.6 of LEONARDI Application Suite now available, with a renewed plugin!

LEONARDI, the model driven framework for business applications, continues to grow. LEONARDI Application Suite comes with two main components, Application Composer, a graphical design tool that allows to create new applications, with the capability of reusing existing data, and Application Engine, the engine that interprets the model on-the-fly to produce the expected application screens at execution time.

V8.6 of Application Suite offers a number of interesting new features, illustrating W4’s goal to meet expectations in terms of user experience. Judge for yourself…

• On the engine side, Application Engine, offers a new JQuery display service that brings real added value to applications deployed on the web, including a real window manager system, web2.0 like graphical effects, on-the-fly skin change, dynamic chart views or native integration of Google Maps components. Social features are also available at runtime, allowing application users connected to the application to interact via email, chat sessions, screen sharing and stickers. With recursive tree structures, a new global data search feature, a compact display mode for tables, resizable columns and windows, friendliness improves significantly for end-users.

• Another interesting breakthrough is the mobile display service that allows for adapting both automatically and by configuration the look & feel of apps for their use on mobile devices (smartphones and tablets). A W4 Androïd player becomes available on the Android market place (in a beta version) while the IOS version will be released with V9, planned early 2012. Thus, applications become mobile at no additional cost.

• On the design environment side, Application Composer upgrades allow configuring these new features, including in the Eclipse plugin renewed version. Entry page and the way to project access management are now also more intuitive than ever.
