ICEfaces is an integrated Ajax Java application framework that enables Java EE Ajax application developers to easily create and deploy thin-client rich Internet applications (RIA) in pure Java. ICEfaces is a fully featured product that enterprise developers can use to develop new or existing Java EE Ajax applications at no cost.

ICEfaces leverages the entire standards-based Java EE ecosystem of tools and execution environments. Rich enterprise application features are developed in pure Java, and in a pure thin-client model. There are no Applets or proprietary browser plug-ins required. ICEfaces applications are JavaServer Faces (JSF) applications, so Java EE application development skills apply directly, and Java developers are isolated from doing any JavaScript related development.

This integration is comprised of three Eclipse feature plugins:

1. ICEfaces Eclipse Tools - Core


2. ICEfaces facelets Eclipse tooling


3. JSF Facelets Tools Incubator

This integration provides the following features:

1. Installs ICEfaces, ICEfaces Facelets, and JSF Facelets Tools Incubator.


2. Accesses a new ICEfaces Eclipse update site hosted on www.icefaces.org to provide a list of available ICEfaces runtime libraries for use with the integration.


3. Adds ICEfaces, ICEfaces Facelets, and dependent libraries to JSF projects.


4. Configures project web.xml and faces-config.xml files for ICEfaces.


5. Provides ICEfaces/Facelets friendly JSP/JSPX page templates.


6. Adds ICEfaces components to the Eclipse Visual JSF Page Designer (part of JSF-JSP Editor).


7. Visual editing of JSF pages; Drag & drop components onto page, edit properties via properties editor, etc.
