Amur4j is a collection of Amur implementation types for model-driven flow-centric development to model and generate Java-based systems. It allows developers to build parallel and distributed systems declaratively by configuring flow transition properties, without having to deal with low-level task scheduling and inter-process communication.

Amur4j runtime executes generated flows by passing invocations between flow nodes through calls and transitions. The runtime framework may execute invocations in the same thread which created an invocation or in a separate thread. Both calls and transitions can be executed in a separate thread. The key difference between these two types of invocation conduits is that calls, unlike transitions, return control and value to the caller node.
