Actually I've been using Eclipse 3.5.1... but I've been using the classic update functionality to install plugins. That way I can choose the folder where I'd like to install the plugin in.
I don't have any issue with other plugin update sites so far but all these sites are providing a site.xml. Maybe you could add that file for backward compatibility.
Added site.xml

Should be OK now. Thank you for your suggestion.
Excellent !!!

Invalid update site

The update site doesn't provide a site.xml.
So it's not possible to install the plugin through Eclipse.
Maybe, you are not using Eclipse 3.5

I exported the update site from the FileEncodingInfo feature using Eclipse 3.5. And I can update from the update site fine. I have no experience developing plugin for previous versions of Eclipse, maybe, site.xml is not needed anymore.
